The Need for Feed
All of the horses that come here are in very poor condition when they arrive and it usually takes between 3 to 8 months to bring them back to their former glory. We have several that are older and in very bad shape, they need to eat twice the amount a healthy horse eats.This is What Happened in August
We had 9 horses get sick with colic and one died, bless her soul. That was $700.00.
Then one of the old gentlemen, named Reggie, ripped his eyelid off and I had to take him into the vet to get it sewn back on, that was $250.00.
Then another old boy, named White Boy Del Sol, had a stroke and the vet had to come put him down, and that was $200.00.
Then a baby horse named Lover Boy Bear got really sick so another vet visit and that was $200.00.
There were several more vet visits in July and August.
Any Gift is helpful. On a good month average cost per horse is between $130.00 and $200.00.

Hay for 1 mo...........$150.00
senior feed/grain...$30.00

Then every 2 to 3 months hooves need trimmed
Trimming.................$35.00
Then once a year they need their teeth floated and twice a year wormed. This is $24.00 for worming and $75.00 for teeth and $30.00 for anesthetic. Then, if the vet has to come out that is usually $200.00 per visit.
